Danielle A. Davis Canty, Esq. is the Director of Technology Policy at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, where she leads the organization’s work on broadband access, content moderation, algorithmic accountability, and data privacy.

A seasoned attorney with expertise in technology and telecommunications law, civil rights, and emerging technologies, Danielle is committed to ensuring Black communities are not left behind in the digital age. She is the creator and host of The Miseducation of Technology, a podcast that explores how digital systems—from AI to surveillance—reinforce systemic inequities and what can be done to reclaim agency and build more equitable technology futures.

In 2025, Danielle was named to the inaugural (Un)Hidden Figures List by the Brookings Institution, recognizing her as one of the leading Black women shaping the future of artificial intelligence policy.

She holds a Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law and dual bachelor’s degrees from Florida Atlantic University: a Bachelor of Science in General Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, graduating cum laude. An active member of The Florida Bar, the Federal Communications Bar Association, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she currently serves as Co-Chair of the FCBA’s Privacy and Data Security Committee.
